A roadside message board on northbound I-495 near Exit 11A (MD 4/Pennsylvania Avenue) announces road work beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, September 13, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, September 14. The sign advises motorists to expect delays.
What drivers should know
The Gazette has not found a current State Highway Administration notice specifying which lanes will close, the exact work limits, the type of work or whether a detour will be required. Motorists should allow extra travel time and follow posted work-zone directions.
Possible connection to earlier paving
In a June 24 announcement, SHA said it would mill and pave northbound I-95/I-495 between MD 214 (Central Avenue) and MD 4, with overnight lane closures generally scheduled Sundays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The location and overnight window overlap with the message-board notice, but the sign gives a 9 p.m. start time. The Gazette has not confirmed that tonight’s work is part of that project.
SHA’s District 3 office can be reached at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737. Motorists needing assistance on a state highway may dial #77.
